Hey just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I had a successful flight with the Edge. Dialed my throws way back and expo up just b/c I wanted to avoid crashing in any way. So, overall it was not a very exciting flight...but I did get it off the ground, did some laps, and a roll. Actually took off and landed twice. Video coming soon.

Just finished and maidened my FT Edge. Flies great so different than any other plane I own.

The wing text is an Illustrator design printed on clear laser label paper on my home laser printer. Cut them out, stuck them on, then scuffed them lightly with some foamboard bits to create the "scratch effect"... Then sealed with 2 coats of Polycrylic Water-Based.

After its first day at the field the paint is holding quite well.

Super clean and good looking build! (y):D

Thanks! It has a FlightLine 3648 880kv motor, currently has a FL 12x8 prop on it but will probably try an APC 13x6 at some point and I have GForce 4000mah 4s packs. The 13x8 has nice airspeed control for precision aerobatics and will still easily blast out of hovers and harriers. My guess is a 13x6 will be a bit more punchy for all out 3D, but it's already pretty rowdy. I have a pattern background so I like that it will do both well on the 12x8. I'm also using 17g digital servos on it.

Being a touch bigger with slightly heavier packs / electronics it penetrates really well. We had some wind last weekend and it performed great, like a balsa and ply airplane yet still slowed to a crawl for landing and didn't much rock the wings at high alpha. I've been very impressed with it.

Awesome! What did you do for landing gear?

Hi guys, I finally did the maiden flight of my FT EDGE 120% today. Lots of power, easy to fly but I am a beginner for 3D Aerobatics. The grass was high and I didn't put the landing gear on.

I just couldn't keep control and totalled it.

I know how that feels. The Edge is such a cool looking plane. Mine felt very under powered with an Emax GT2215 on 3S. It seemed a bit unstable (which is the point with a 3D airplane like this). It was great with the maneuvers I threw at it. Ultimately, unfamiliarity with the symmetrical airfoil did me in. I was so used to the high lift flat bottom airfoils to get me out of trouble and with the lack of power, I stall/spun it in due to some aggressive pulling close to the ground. Still have the wing though, and it may rise again!

I just ordered the kit and trying to confirm if the 2212 motor on a 3s is going to be enough. There appear to be several reports that it is underpowered. Since it has been a while, any opinions since?
