Help! Is my battery damaged too bad to keep?

Hey guys! So today I bumped the ground a little harder with my drone and it shifted the battery so that the props were lightly rubbing on it.....I thought it was just a leaf so i increased throttle trying to shake it but it wasn't coming out so i set it down and went to take a look at it....The props cut through the outside wrapper and very slightly into the cells, so that i can see a little bit of mesh stuff as well as it went thru the first layer of plastic film.....the hole is about the size of a lentil...maybe smaller. do you guys think it is too damaged to keep? I can get some pictures if that would help.....
Thanks!

Breaching containment is never a good thing. Balance the cost of a new battery against the cost of a new battery AND a new drone. Ultimately it comes down to -

Could you take a picture? If it’s not puffing up, and if all the cells are still balanced, then you probably didn’t actually cut into the cell. I would try it in an airplane that I didn’t care about very much and stress test it hard. To Mr NCTs point though, it wouldn’t be my first choice in a plane or drone that I highly valued. 🙂

Okay thanks! I might just buy a new one as its a cheap one ans I would rather not risk anything,....

If the inside silver foil has no damage your good to go, when rebuilding cells when taking apart old ones that is what contains the cells themselves, the rest is just wrapping..

man, i had something similar happen once…i thought “na we are good”, i was swapping batteries one day and i guess i hit the “rubbed” spot and the lithium battery exploded and caught fire in my hand.

i am now to the point where anything shows any damage, i swap it…especially batteries.

Yeah my current battery is 50c and I found some that are 100c! Those are going to be my replacements!

If your motor, motors cannot utilize 100C batteries it basically is a waste of money, unless they happen to be very close to the same cost, just saying.
