Lidl Foamy to bank and yank RC

Last week I popped one of the Lidi XL_Gliders in the shopping basket for £7.99.
So far...
Carbon fibre spar in fuselage
Wing flattened
Carbon fibre spar in the wing
Front chopped and a the cockpit hollowed out
Front bulkhead printed for motor - 2206 2200kv
Ailerons cut out, bevelled and attached with Blenderm tape
Two servo holes cut on wing
Rear elevator cut and I hinged this with some PTFE sheet
Embedding the elevator in the tail so all pushrods are going to be super short

Really hoping to get this ready for a maiden tomorrow afternoon.

I'm sure they will, the wing is rather lovely but the trailing edge is a little thick for strength. Currently it's nose heavy so I'm considering mounting the battery pack saddle style on the wing. That way I can go bigger than an 850mAh size.

Nice build. I really like what you've done. I look forward to the flight vids.
I was going to turn mine into a 3 channel plane using 2- 3g or 5g servos and going to shove a 5g/ 5" Motor/prop doing aileron and elevator control.

@Micheal763. look up EPP foam glider on Amazon. I found mine for $8 (18") but no steel ball.

Done enough for the day, only stuff left is the control horns and the Y-lead for the ailerons.
Its still a little nose heavy, but I'd rather that than tail heavy...

Finished it.... couldn't wait until tomorrow. 448gms all up weight with a 1500mAh 3S on board. The motor/prop combination should pull approx 550gms which may make this a bit of a rocket. I have a 30 amp ESC in there with a predicted maximum power demand of just over 15 amps.

LIDL like the grocery store?!?

And how exactly did you mount that lipo, BBQ Skewers in the fuselage?

Loving the latest chuck glider to RC posts and show. Can't wait for flight video. :)

Yes, the grocery store. :)
The lipo is mounted over the centre of gravity - cut into fuselage, small step for the strap and then a bit of light ply stuck down to neaten it up and add back the strength I removed with the hole. Not the prettiest but it seems to work. Close up here...

Good job I went with the 30 amp ESC. Racerstar BR2206 2200Kv, 6x45 prop,fresh 3S lipo = 20.17 amp peak.
I'm really looking forward to the maiden this afternoon :D

It flew like it was tail heavy.... I could have sworn it was nose heavy. Will add some down and right thrust into the rebuild.
1st attempt the ailerons were reversed so immediately cut the power and let go of the sticks and she glided nicely to the ground and made a lovely landing. I also did a hand throw glide test and that was fine. This makes me think it was thrust angle rather than tail heaviness.
