Good morning, everyone. I finished my little Jenny. As I said in my introductory post, first plane in about 5 years. I'm not going to post any pictures, while it turned out fine the finish isn't perfect. I need more practice, I guess. The build went fine, followed the build video step by step. It balanced out just a touch nose heavy after putting the plastic grill and exhaust on it. I didn't see anything in the video about how much control surface travel was needed. Thinking this was going to be a slow gentle plane, I just left them to max travel. I was very surprised when I took her out for her maiden. Nice empty park, no wind to speak of. I set her on the sidewalk, double checked the controls and hit the throttle. She only rolled forward about 6 inch's and the tail lifted, gave what I thought was a gentle elevator input. She went vertical, with ease. Needless to say, that surprised me a bit. Got her level and made a few turns. She was very touchy on the controls, but not out of control. Then as I was turning, I lost all rudder input? I chopped the throttle, and she hit the ground. I was happy to see she had survived. A few stress marks in the paint but otherwise good. I found the rudder control horn had failed. I guess my glue joint was insufficient. Back in the shop I will repair and reinforce that joint. Now I have to figure out how to set up dual settings on my new pocket master radio. I miss the old days when everything was just a simple toggle switch and didn't require a degree in programing, yes I am that old. If anyone has any ideas for throw amounts and expo, I would love to hear them. Thanks
