Motor Sizing Help

I understand how diameter of brush-less out-runners gain more torque but i cant find anywhere what the height of the can helps with. If someone could enlighten me that would be fantastic!

Your statement is generally true but there are a number of exceptions. The larger diameter allows for more or larger magnets as well as more room for more or higher current windings The depth of the "can" also allows for the larger/longer magnets and increased volume for the windings.

Trying to judge the ratings of a motor by its size is dangerously misleading. For instance look up a 2205C 1400kV and compare its size and ratings with a 2213N 800Kv both from HK.

Normally chose motor on the plane designers recommendations and if seeking an alternate compare weight, kV rating, maximum voltage rating and maximum ccurrent against the original specified and get the closest match available or better.
