pushrods

I bought landscape flags for pushrods like a lot of people suggested. These are too heavy of a gauge however for the nutball or FT Flyer. These do work great for landing gears however. Has anyone found anything else they can use? I am going to check with Ace and Home Depot later.

Here is what I typically use:

  • Standard (swappable) landing gear = 28 gage (.071"/1.8mm) or 30 gage (.080"/2.0mm) music wire.
  • Storch landing gear = 32 gage (.090"/2.3mm) music wire.
  • Push rods =18 gage (.040"/1.0mm) music wire.

Flitetest .038 (longer lengths require support)
Radian .047
Home Depot Flags .060 (very stiff, but doesn't need support)

I hunted around for a good source and found Hobbylinc. They offer 36" lengths and packs of 20.

Hobbylinc Piano Wire

They also carry CF rods, but I'd probably get them directly from Avia.

Is there a difference between US and UK wire gauges? In the UK 18 gauge is 1.2mm/0.048" for example and higher gauge numbers are thinner wires, lower gauge numbers thicker,
