Hello all,

This is my first post in the forums. I've been lurking here for months reading articles and watching the shows and user videos. I haven't flown yet but I did build a Mikey's RC FPV3. My son finished it up with some spare electronics from his plane (after it crashed) and got it in the air. It's a great plane for anyone who is just starting out (imo). It hit the ground hard three different times as he got used to it and trimmed it up but it hardly showed any damage. Nicely done Mikey.

I wanted to post three youtube links here for anyone else who is brand new to RC flying. I stumbled on these today and have to say they are the best explanations of Center of gravity, the effects of moter/prop combinations and general insight into modifying a plane. I don't know if the author is on flight test but if you are, I just want to say thanks for putting the videos together. After months of trying to figure things out I am finally understanding how to go about building a plane.

These videos are about how he converted his balsa powered glider to an electric motor but they are perfect for anyone to watch who wants to build from scratch but doesn't understand the basic problems.

p.s. I also want to thank sr71afan from youtube if he's in this forum. I was able to build your floppy wing plane. I haven't flown it yet but I'm close. It's an ugly bird they way I built it (used dollar tree foam elmers glue and paper to stiffen the wings) :) (thanks also, andpet55 on youtube, your tutorial on paper coating wings is really helpful)

p.p.s. Lastly but obviouslynot least, Great work FliteTest! this is a hobby I never thought I would get into but your videos and products will make it easy.

Welcome to the forum. There's absolutely nothing wrong with lurking. I do it all the time. The really nice thing about this forum is that you can participate without fear. The Flitetest community is quite helpful and friendly, and the moderators are great.
If you have anything to contribute (even a wise crack) feel free.

And thanks for the links.

Welcome Ram! Yep, Mikey is awesome. He (or his puppet) taught me how to build my first 450 heli. Fly, Crash, Repair. All of us do it. Welcome to a great community, these guys are the best.
