What did you crash today

With that name one of use would believe it anyway? We would just naturally figure it to be your 'evil twin', The-One-Who-Always-Crashes, and enjoy the pictures knowing it really wasn't you at all. ;)

If you aint crashing, must be not flying much

Drift, no launchy. Broken nose piece (glueable) Broken Carbon tail rod. (not glueable) >sigh<

EDIT: Looking at the ailerons, you can see the autoleveling was still active when I set it on the table. :ROFLMAO:

Somebody posted the plastic attachment that goes on the front side of that carbon rod. I’m talking about the piece that slides around the end of the rod that the “nut” holds onto. You could probably cut a couple inches off that rod, add the new printed end piece, and fly. Having a shorter tail probably won’t help with the pitchiness of the Drift, but maybe it will compensate because it will make it less tail heavy too?

All my own fault. Strong sun. I realised it was about to pass in front of the sun so I made a sharp turn but too late, blinded by the sun . At 80 degree bank any plane will end up diving with no control input. I would have done better to have just left it flying straight and level. When I did get sight again it was diving almost vertically to the ground. In panic full up elevator = wing failure!
In fact the damage is more severe than visible. The impact was so severe that the EDF broke free and demolished some of the printed duct inside the fuselage.
I shall have to think hard about how or indeed if that can be practically fixed as the fuselage was built up around the duct.

The rest of the Depron airframe is fixable if rather time consuming to do.
Oh well, never mind.

I've considered a few repair options. For now, I am waiting on the replacement tail. if this becomes problematic, I may look for a firmer rod. Seems like it was unreasonably flimsy to have broken under the "landing" conditions. :ROFLMAO:

EDIT: interesting, there are guides inside the tube for the elevator rod to keep it from flexing.... Tube thickness is only .4mm.

Sorry- it was a beautiful airplane.

Another solution to that problem is to continue on and close one eye before going thru the sun's bright position and when you exit it, open that eye. Of course, the open eye does not look at sun bright area, look below .

I probably could have rebuilt, but I decided to build another. The old one was getting pretty beat up. It was starting to fly wonky.
I resemble that myself. I took a few wonky planes to FF24 this year. Didn't destroy as many as I would have liked. Guess I need to get to Edgewater this year.

Was hoping somebody would take credit for crashing out a large percentage of windows boxes today. LOL.

Somebody needs to build a flying blue window...

The B-17 spiraled in from high altitude this morning. Not much left after the ground contact. Current theories for the crash include a crooked horizontal stabilizer, off-balance battery, or a flak burst.
