What lights do you use?

It's relatively easy to make your own lights with 3 or 5mm LEDs, 22awg wire, 1/4w resistors, and servo terminals. You won't get any flashing or fancy RGB effects without a microcontroller of some sort but for simple white, red, and green navigation lights it's super cheap and flexible. Just requires very basic electronics knowledge and a soldering iron.

I got lazy with my lights. I couldn't be bothered to stick wiring in, so I bought a pack of those little LED fobs for clipping onto dog collars. Cracked the fobs open and inside was essentially an LED stuck to a button battery, then I just taped them on. The pack came with ten colours, including red and green and it was only £9.

These are $2.50/meter. Four colors are available and as longer as you’re using a 3s battery, you hook them straight up to the battery.

These are only 3mm wide but still plenty bright. Lots of color options. I solder lead wires on them and wire nut them to 3s balance plug extensions. I think its a 5 meter roll. They had 5 volt ones too I think.

I like these too. My son put them on his Turbo Tudor and they look nice. I put them on a Mini Scout LOL! Doubled the weight of the plane and almost crashed it with 2S A engine in the dark! Doesn't fly too bad with 3S but still a little too heavy for this plane but it was what I was flying at the time. Didn't use a switch.
