Which app do you use for LAANC authorization

I'm a total noob, I have built a Simple Scout but I'm hesitant to spend several hundred dollars to join the local AMA club to try flying it. So, I am building a sub 250g arrow plane (slow stick knock off). The problem is the FAA rules for sub 250g are not very clear. It appears, to me, that I still need to get LAANC authorization if I'm flying in controlled airspace (how do you know if you're in controlled airspace?) They (the FAA) reference LAANC apps but I'm not very tech savvy (I use my phone to call people, and maybe text). Can I get some recommendations from the group please? Also there is a Flite Test FRIA on the FAA map but there isn't any contact information, just a location. should I just drive up and hope somebody's there? The site is call "Nielson Field" (Colorado Springs, CO) on the FAA map.
Thanks for your help
BTW if any of you are in the Springs and wouldn't mind mentoring a noob, I'd love some support for my maiden.

You should start with "Air Aware". It will give you a heads up of any restrictions at your location, what the maximum altitude you can fly ther is, and give you the option to file a LAANC request.
