Finally finished my Mini-Scout. Like a kid with a new toy, I couldn't wait.

I figured I would take it out on the street and just do a straight takeoff and glide to a landing like the Josh's show in the beginner series.

Set it down and smoothly applied throttle. Lifted off like a champ. I steered it around a bit and hit a tree.

Motor mount broke off, tail skid broke off. Wing leading edges damaged.

Where most would be defeated, I have been equipped with the skill to repair by the FliteTest crew. The glue gun is heating up and a couple of bbq skewers are going on the leading edges. Building is fun. Flying is fun. Fixing is fun.

Yep. I got the sickness!!!

I see you've made friends with the trees already. Welcome aboard it's a wild ride.

Wake up! Time to fly!
I have a general rule that applies to nearly everything I encounter. I am forced to live by Bill's law which specifically states that it covers anything Murphy may have missed, forgot, omitted, or over looked can and WILL happen to me. Over the years I have adapted to one principle to counter that..

DONT lead with your face.

In your case you substitute face for leading edge of wing. Welcome to "crash test" AKA those of us that don't host a show.
