Totally understand. When I had my Storch, it would just about completely disappear below the tree line to land. On a clear blue fall sky, I would lose the blue on the other & it is like flying a digital pixel with some of the pixels missing.

Polished metal definitely disappears. Making the turn from base to upwind leg, all I'd be able to see of my A-36 was the yellow spinner.

That said, I'd still do a C170 in polished metal.

Well I said I’d get back to it and I really am just went to the hobby shop yesterday and bought three by sixteenths piano wire and making the landing gear now going great!
