now i feel like a newb....... my batteries c rating was to low.
it could only supply 30 amps...... but i needed 36 amps............
i just ran it on a 3s 2250mah with 35C.... man i sounds sweet
I had the same issue with some turnigy packs I got. I flew them in my ARS but the voltage sag was terrible, however I tried them in my carbon cub and freedom fox and they have been working really well for those birds.

No really built anything since I have been off, the Tiny hasn't progressed since the work I did last Tuesday night. Same with the Sea Otter, I got the servo lead extensions but haven't done much apart from install the motor to the power pod.
Brought the Bushwacker with me tonight so I could make a start on the motor swap and sort the landing gear out. After cleaning up the landing gear wire and straightening it, I stripped the old 2215/09 1180kv motor. Then realised I have to modify the motor mounting, so may as well build a new power pod and start from scratch, I can then keep the original set-up incase the bigger motor doesn't work.

Been reading specs and discovered I can get more thrust from a Sunnysky x2212 1250kv than the Emax GT2215/09 1180kv. As I have one of these already on order and one in my Simple Cub, it makes sense to do a swap and fit the Sunnysky in the Bushwacker and the maybe place the Emax in the Cub which to be honest didn't need the power of the Sunnysky anyway. But if the Emax turns out to be under powered on the Cub I can always use the spare Sunnysky that I already have on order.
In the mean time I still plan to build a new power pod with the 4023 1060kv motor, I want to see how it impacts performance compared with the smaller motors (y)

You're making me think it's ok to buy more components, just because.

Turns out I bolted the Sunnysky 1250kv motor straight to the firewall from behind, on the Simple cub. Therefore no X bracket to mount it on the Bushwacker firewall, I had a search today but no idea where I have put the original x bracket for that motor.
May as well wait until the new motor arrives now, must admit starting to have reservations though. I now they are are great motors and loads of power, but its actually physically smaller than the Emax GT2215 I am replacing it with. Maybe I am better just going ahead with the 4023 1060 kv motor as I originally planned (y);)

Going to pick up my Vampire tomorrow and check out the other goodies for sale. Had a miserable day today, went for a walk with my son and the dog first thing, but then had to do house work and a meal to prepare before I set off for work again. This was while my wife spent the day playing in her garden.
So don't feel any guilt about going to pick up another plane tomorrow, its payment for the slavery I have to endure under the tyranny of my wife.

Just finished preparing a list of jobs to complete and projects to finish off, I have more to do than I first thought. It will certainly keep me occupied until Autumn maybe even longer.
Some are just quick fixes/repairs, others are basic assembly of planes, then there are longer labours of love like full restorations. Sadly I didn't bring anything with me tonight to work on, so bored senseless.
I am hoping to tick some jobs off my list this week. The Otter completion won't be one of them though, I over compensated with the servo extension lengths I ordered. So needed to order some more but a bit shorter this time (200mm is an adequate length, but I am sure the 500mm ones will come in useful).
I also plan to get the Bushwacker completed, with the additional powerpod upgrade.

She seems to think that Gardening is work ! not a hobby or pass time. So I suggested we level everything and lay Astro turf, she didn't like that as she loves her garden.
I get accused of going in my attic and playing with my planes, so now I wind her up by saying she goes to play in the garden (y)

Picked up my latest acquisition today
20210419_132522.jpg 20210419_132535.jpg 20210419_132559.jpg
Although my next purchase is already on my mind P51 FMS 1450mm Mustang (buying it in May), with machine gun sound effects, flaps, retracts and a genuine 8ch Spektrum receiver included (it does have the canopy), plus spare prop and spinner £100 ($140).

Also buying the Vulcan bomber next month too for £30 ($42).

Turned out it wasn't a Mosquito after all, its a Hornet which came in to production after the Mosquito. Think that one is going for £60-£70. No longer interested in buying that one, but it is a nice plane. loads for sale including a nice Corsair which I am tempted to buy in a few months.

Really enjoyable morning chatting about planes and transmitters, he even has a Mc Gregor Transmitter before Spektrum bought them out and a couple of old single channel transmitters.

few hour build (foam to done) - FT ez chuck glider

looks like it could take the [now extinct] H-pack and make a twin... or possibly even just a single one of the H-pack motors and be at about 2/3:1 thrust:weight ratio, would probably fly ok at that given how well it glides. took about 30g of weight jammed in the nose to get the CG to the expected location, so 1 H-pack motor, small battery, 2 servos and a receiver wouldn't might be ~60g...

Got plenty done.
Apart from checking the motor direction, CG and painting the tail/ fuselage, my Mk5 Tiny trainer is virtually finished. All the assembly is complete I should be able to fly it by weekend.
I also managed to assemble the motor mounting for the 4023 1050kv motor, which is going on the Bushwacker. Soldered connectors on a new Hobby Wing 40amp ESC also for the Bushwacker. Replaced the landing gear fairings and gave them added rigidity, then painted them.
I would have had the the powerpod complete but someone changed the dimensions on the most recent version of the plan . The previous powerpod I built was 20mm longer and the front locating lugs where in a different position too. So I will have to start again and build it from scratch, when I wake up. I wanted to get the Bushwacker finished for Wednesday, so I could go flying. I wanted to maiden it with the new motor.
Hopefully my new 12X6 props will also arrive in time.

You’ll love the mustang! I’ve got their 1500mm p-47 and it flies incredibly well!

Bushwacker mods are now almost complete, Volantex 4023 1050kv motor installed finally. I fitted some new rubber 90mm wheels instead of the cheap 100mm foam ones I had on previously. I am running a 12x6 prop with a 51mm spinner and Hobbywing 40amp ESC. Fortunately I received a bag of goodies today, including the new props, spinners and wheels etc (good timing :)(y)).
I ended up building a new powerpod and double thickness firewall to allow me to mount the motor securely. All that's left to do now is check the CG tomorrow, I know it will need extra nose weight as it needed loads last time with the other motor set-up. I also need to give the new fairings a quick varnish.
I finish my present set of shifts on Friday night, so hoping to go flying on Friday if the weather holds out. Apart from the Bushwacker I haven't decided yet which planes to take with me, probably won't be the simple stick I need to have a think about that one before it fly's again.
The goodie bag I received today also included my FRsky Lipo sensor. The bigger one with the OLED display, so I can finish off the Edge 540 this weekend, that give me a battery status warning on my transmitter (takes the guess work out of things).
I also received my 200mm servo extensions, so will probably progress the Sea Otter build tomorrow night.
Next week I am starting the powered glider nose, for the Tiny Trainer with an Emax 2213 935kv motor. Fortunately my folding prop has also arrived today so that also allows this project to progress as well.
