Building with Depron

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if any of you have built using Depron foam? How easy is it to follow plans for an FT model with Depron, etc? Do you have to tape the edges for example? BTW this would be 6mm foam.

All the best,

cooie

Being Australian, I unfortunately don't have access to DTF, so I'm pretty much stuck with either Depron or heavy foamboard (both are expensive here $15 - $20 a sheet). Depron works really well, but you have to modify the plans as it's thicker 6mm (as compared to 5mm DTF) Also, there's no paper on it obviously so you have to use a lot of fiberglass reinforced tape for hinges and corners etc. It's super light though and even though it's brittle it's still quite durable and easy to fix.

Not much new on this thread for over a year but I found it very useful, when I started having thoughts of trying depron. For the price in the US, depron is way more expensive than DTFB. At depron prices, I will build balsa airplanes.
Thanks,
