I am a beginner wanting to build a quadcopter. I don't want to spend a lot of money this first build. So in my effort to save a buck, I have a Blade CX2 RTF Electric Coaxial Micro Helicopter with a transmitter I want to reuse. I am wondering if it is worth using this transmitter. I found that the OrangeRx R615X Spektrum/JR DSM2/DSMX Compatible 6Ch 2.4GHz Receiver w/CPPM appears to be compatible. Assuming it is compatible then I assume that I can buy a DSMX compatible transmitter down the road when I am ready to spend a little more. No camera on this build for now. Just a quadcopter made out of PVC.
1. Are these two really compatible?
2. The transmitter is 5 channel but the receiver is 6 channel. Does that make any difference?
3. In my ignorance am I missing anything that I should know?
4. What about distance?
