If im doing much more than a few spins through the trees behind the house I like to put some kind of FC in. Even if you dont have GPS, the ability to have some kind of self leveling or stabilization if the video goes out can be the difference in a minor inconvenience and a catastrophic crash.

Ive found the ZOHD kopilot lite to be my favorite go to simple FC. It features launch assist and RTH and has worked great for me on several builds.
