That flies SAHWEET!! Little hard to see on a Phone... But what I saw, looked great! 👍👍

She seems to Penetrate well, much like the real one.
I hope I get the chance to build the LARGE Speed Build Kit!! 😎

Anyone pushed the weight of this yet?

Flite test always spec there planes to be ultra lightweight and I've found that the max battery size/ plane weight is much lower than there planes can handle in reality.

One example is the ft cub, the specs they give come in at 489g and it's stated the max battery size is 2200mah 3s but my standard battery for that plane is a 2700mah 3s and with my different motor, prop, metal gear servos and loads of other electronics it comes in at 812g and flys great but I've had it airborne numerous times with a 4200mah 3s and a whisker over 1kg lol.

Obviously, with just a stack of printed paper infront of me ready to make the poster board templates I have no idea yet how far I can push this plane Weight wise until it's built and I experiment but if anyone else has loaded one up, the info on what it can cope with would be useful :)

That's a great question! I still want a big Commuter though..

But on your Cub. That was very enlightening! I am just waiting for weather to Maiden mine. She's on the verge of a Kilo with all the Mods I made...
Running a 10x4.7 and C Pack Motor, with a 1500 3S.
This gave me more confidence!

This isn't a Cub thread, so I don't want to hijack...
Just wanted to thank you for that info. 😎

You must be running some serious Extra electronics to be coming in at nearly a kilo on a 1500 3s lol.

I come in at just over a kilo on a 4000 or 4200 3s (both packs are pretty much the same weight) and that's with 12g metal gear servos, two cams, switcher, voltage osd, vtx ect.

It will fly surprisingly well at such a heavy weight but you have to come in very hot on landings and if you have to land in a very small space like I do then you end up pretty much dumping it lol.
On my 2700 packs landings are nowhere near as lively but with a grassy area to land on, being that heavy won't be a problem.

My full specs are in the description of my videos but here are two flights whilst carrying a 4000mah 3s and weighing over 1kg so you can see how it flys, there are other videos on my channel on 2700 3s packs and those are an all up weight of 812g or 870g, I forget which but it's in the 800g range.

I've built loads of those cubs and made changes each time, you can batter the comments section on my videos if you have any questions, the cub is a far more Capable plane than flight test ever planned when they designed there 'docile trainer ' lol.

I've not really been putting a big effort into building this plane and have just been doing 5 mins here and there when I'm waiting for something else but have got the main fuse made with tail mounted but no upper front cowling on the nose as yet.

I saw that the design called for 5g servos and I don't own any and won't buy them as they strip gears so easy so I wanted to use my mg90s metal gear servos.

The original wing design simply does not allow for them to fit so I made doublers for the spar and added a trailing edge strip.
It's altered the profile of the wing to have slightly more top curve but that should actually increase lift but I won't know how it flys till I actually fly it of course.

I thought I'd post some pics of how I've managed to get mg90s 12g metal gear servos in case anyone else is wondering if it can be done.

Wing won't be left with the excess glue in the pics, I will gently go over it with a heat gun and scrape the excess away with a blade before painting :)

You would need-
Three 18” control rods, people use any stiff wire around 1.2-1.5mm for that, the wire “ground marker flags” and thin bike wheel spokes are popular.
4 control horns- These can be made from scrap plastic (store discount cards etc) or wood/hobby ply or bought laser cut from the store.
A couple of fire walls for the power pod- Make from hobby ply, 3d print or can be bought laser cut from the store. You want spares as the powerpod is designed to break in a crash.
Wire for undercarriage- 2mm or similar, people use coat hanger wire. Match the diameter to the wheels you want. Buy light and wide foam wheels for easy landing.
The templates for the control horns and firewall are on the plans, printed in a corner usually, to help make your own. None of this stuff is at all specialist, most can be found in regular stores with a bit of searching. We don’t have an FT store in Europe, we have to find or make all of it. It’s not hard. A Speedbuild kit will save you time and has everything with it tho.
Hello, please, what size does have wheels from original kit? Thank you
