There are 2 hash marks (one black, one red) on the leading edge of the wing. No hash mark on the trailing edge. ??

does the Speed build kit for the P-38 use the new water resistant (WR) foamboard from Adams as shown on their website now - Flite Test Water-Resistant Foam Board By Adams FLT-2050 just wondering if I need to do the minwax prep or if that is not needed with the new WR foamboard

Thanks

Mine is the FT brown fb which I believe is water resistant.

Well after some testing it is definitely water repellent/ resistant. the minwax has no negative effects on the hotglue bond as I tested that as well

Not sure if there is any netgain for using the minwax- I have the Corsair complete except for painting and the -38 will be the next project for 2020 flying season. Callie graphics for both with waterbased acrylic spray which needs some experimentation on the paint yet - createx or the cheaper walmart paint.

@jblock51 the Brown foam board is waterproof/resistant and doesn’t need Minwax. The new “maker foam” is also water resistant. The stuff you buy at dollar store is not waterproof. I have all three types and the brown stuff holds up to water the best. I’ve had it out in the rain for an hour with very little effects.

Any updates on the missing tick marks needed for boom alignment :
missing crop marks on the leading edge of the wing
I purchased the speed build kit for the P38 and its been an awesome build experience thus far. I would say an easier build than the corsair. my question is ;

Was it just me or did others have the missing crop marks on the leading edge of the wing ? I paid special attention to any crop marks on this kit after the corsair build which was my first flitetest build!. The only reference I found in the video was johns reference to "about 5 1/2 inches from the fuselage". Could anyone who has built the P38 already verify/measure this with their build.
Was this an oversight in the speed build kit or plans ? Are there revised plans that show this critical dimension when installing the booms as that will affect motor thrust angle.?

Finally any build where I can use Clear Gorilla tape in the build is way cool!

Yes, that’s an issue that all of who have built the P-38 have come across. I thought the sbk had the marks right but I guess not - the free plans definitly don’t have any marks. And the measurements John gives are NOT right in the build video. You’ll have to install the tail first then align the booms so they are the same distance from the fuse and don’t have a thrust angle. I’m goi to tag @SP0NZ and @Splinter189 to see if they can give a better answer.

Hey There Everyone,
I've downloaded a few Flitetest plans and I absolutely love your construction videos and methods plus tutorials! Please please can you make your gorgeous P38 a free PDF download(A4 and A0) soon as I'm absolutely smitten with it,I love building and want to(attempt) to make one out of Correx which I get from a friend.

Kind Regards

Here are the plans. I don't know if they're tiled in A4 and A0 but you can always have your PDF print the full size with cut marks.
