Gonna be hard to do that in DTFB because, on the 1/2a scale, foamboard is super super heavy compared to balsa. SIG sells a nice hi-wing that would be fun to bomb around with while the engine's running and then would glide well. Can also get a kit of a 1/2a Astro Hog that would work well on that engine. You'd have a good glide slope *and* have a really fun aerobat while on power!

Also, that tank's gonna last a good while.

thanks again. i will start googling.

me

Wing isn't glued in, but it's taking shape. Will balance without too much weight either; less than will be put in for electronics. Gonna be a fun one!

You asked for an idea so here's one - put it under your chair so when you fart it sucks the fumes away. Sorry, but you asked for it. :ROFLMAO:
With my diet I would't discount that...

I think it was a crappy attempt at a Coanda effect thingy. 1 channel and that was throttle only. Not sure why I made it squared off though, and for that reason alone it pretty much didn't work at all.

Well first little bit of building in a long time but the Red Baron is ready for battle again. :) One new fuse and a few more patches on the wing. I am so surprised at how well this wing has held up, I am sure it has been hit over 10 times and damage has always been minor. This is the wing with a single cf rod, balsa LE and TE , 3D printed ribs and only wrapped in 1mm Depron. With the thin airfoil it cuts through the air just beautiful and is quite a bit faster then the foam or DTFB wings. Might have to build a new wing as a spare just in case :)

Crunching on the Simple Scout GP again, decided to get a couple of close-up snaps of the engine mounts. When I put the wing in...about to mix the epoxy right now in fact...itt'l also end up attached to those beams. They're forming the main structure of the aircraft for the most part, not the foamboard, so it should be super strong and immune to engine vibration. That's the idea anyway.

Fly harder!

I maidened the UMX Mosquito and UMX Habu today! The Mosquito I flew in our backyard and honestly it needed more room, but it did fly nice. The Habu I took to my field at about sunset and man, that thing is EPIC!! I ran three packs through it, and by the end it was barely visible. 😁 I also flew the spacewalker and PT-17 in our backyard.

Why'd they have to discontinue all the cool UMX planes?
