How can I adjust my throttle so that my quadcopter needs less stick to stay up

I understand what you're saying. It seems that most hobbyking frames with the FPV long frame kit have that same symptom. Not only does it cause a loss in thrust but seems to make it louder... I've seen suggestions of mounting the frame in an underslung fashion... I am considering it but don't want to rip apart my quad just to try.

After some testing it seems mine exhibits the same symptom. I am slightly above half throttle even though I have a completely different setup than you do. I never really paid much attention to throttle position before. I tried 5X4 props instead of the 5X3 and seem to gain a lot in the higher throttle but hover stays about the same. I have DYS 1806 2300KV motors though. You could probably get away with 5X4 better than I can.
