Step one - Make some comments on how her kitchen island is getting dinged up or doesn't match the new appliances.

Step two - Buy her a new one. (this is where the build part comes in)

Step three - Empty and roll the old one into your work/hobby area.

Nice! I missed out on a huge amount of free kitchen counter top the other day..still upset about it I could have had a complete kitchen sized workbench along 2 and a half walls plus an island.
