that's true...but if someone has experience in building one already, they may have insight on which build plans / methodology are the best of all the info Google will give you.

oh and also, I meant tha it is good to have the experience of working with the stepper motors and stuff. it was interesting if someone made it wiht servos.

nope, never worked wwith them. also dont get whats so special about stepper motors instead of using a servo with a linear potentiometer soldered up. shuold be cheaper

Linear pots aren’t long enough….. steppers are like servos except they turn infinitely

They have what is called a rotary encoder. That is very similar. Except they need to be calibrated every time and that is why on the ends of the X and Y axis’s there is little switches. It tells it how much it turned and then it knows where it is.
