My ground station

Hello everybody!

So i spent last few evenings making myself a new ground station and thought it turned out so well that i wanted to share it here.
Pictures at bottom as i don't know how to put them in the middle.

Since i always bring my Blackout Hex when i go flying i wanted to make something that would contain everything i need.
I wanted that it would be well protected and something that i can throw in the back of my working car as i fly most days at lunchtime.

Before i have been using a Ibcrazy Skyhammer antenna and it´s really cumbersome to pack i a nice way. It´s a great antenna as you can fly 360° as far as you could possibly want with a FPV racer but i decided to give the CPATCH12 from Circular Wireless a go.
The antenna is a really nice form factor and have superb build quality. I tested this antenna with a 400mw 1.3g tx from RMRC and flew 1,5 km on ground level with no problems at all even behind some trees. Need to test on a airplane to see the limits. Only time i had some glitches in video was few hundred meters straight up over the antenna, but it´s directional so thats expected.

I also bought a Peli 1560 case unfortunately i could not fit my hex in the smaller carry on case.
Initially i wanted to build the groudstation in to the case but changed my mind. Reson? Then i would always have to bring the case even if hiking up to a nice flying spot. So i decided to take apart my reciver and my video splitter and build everything in to a small aluminium box. The box have 2 DIN connectors (used for microphones) for glasses or display and a XT60 but have 2 more possible out ports for video (just don't need them now). There is also room inside to build in a small DVR in the future.
The antenna and receiver box mounts to the Peli case with a GoPro mount. This makes it possible for me to mount the antenna and receiver to the roof of my car when flying in winter (we have a lot of that up here in Sweden) or just place the receiver on a table or the ground with an omni antenna or the patch.

Im not saying this is the best solution but i think it works real well for me. It´s simple, all in one package just grab and go and it´s almost indestructible when packed up.

Hopefully the pictures will say more than a 1000 words but if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Ooh and had to throw in a pic of my dog helping me taping some plans for a plane.

I use Pelican cases for my regular luggage. They are cheaper than Samsonite have a lifetime warranty. and Some countries use baggage carts without roofs, others have clothes get wet in the rain while my clothes stay dry.

There are attach lugs inside the case's lid that the optional lid organizers mount to. I'd like to mount an LED monitor to it. I wear glasses and don't like the goggles.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes im still super happy with the cpatch12. I have moved my BO hex over to 5.8ghz and fly it with the Dominator hd built in reciever but still use the 1.2 patch for my tricopter and more longrange plane. The peli case goes in the back of my work car almost every day for some lunchtime flying and was well worth the money.
