What direction would you go if you were to build another? Something faster then the P-40, biplane, try a prop n slot or a wing?
Well given that I now have a site that is much better than I'd imagined. I'm going away from small, slow planes to more planes similar to the P40. So my next plane is going to be a companion plane to the P 40, the Spitfire (not the masters). It's going to be fun to paint it up and also compare it head to head with the P 40. The P 40 flies so well, not sure why I didn't like it at first. Perhaps I just wasn't ready yet.
I've got to step out into the apocalypse and get some FB and PB. This will be a fun build. The area I'm flying is being develop, so this isn't going to be a forever site. Get while the getting is good. It's an awesome quarantine site too, I share it with no one. I can't believe how lucky I got with this. Yes, the soccer field has landing and take off covered but this site is just plain better for flying in every way. I'm now buddies with the field manager, he rode over in his utility quad and watched me fly. He told me the history of the area, the developer, ect. I love the true South, these folks are just great. He told me if I need anything just ask. Damn, I'm using your property to fly, I'm the one who should be making those offers. You throw on a blinker in this area, they slow down and give you room. In Florida, a blinker is a sign of weakness, you put on a blinker there and they will close the gap on you immediately. I'm not trying to make a North/South argument here, it's really more about big cities vs rural areas. That's how I see it............ok back to flying.
Zetoyoc: Funny thing is that's pretty much what happened to me. I crashed the P 40, didn't know what happened but assumed I just lost orientation (close to the ground), panicked and did the wrong thing. After I repaired the plane (and was doing check outs), I noticed the elevator was stuck up the way up. The Servo had failed, and would not work. So perhaps the crash broke it but it wasn't that hard of a crash so I think the servo failed with elevator up and that's why I could not recover. Sorry you've had such poor experience with the plane, I myself wasn't a fan until now. Now it's my favorite plane. Let's see how the ever popular Spit goes.
