for setups without an osd.. would it be possible to wire the low voltage alarm speaker to your VTX audio to have it make noise at your ground station?

The only thing I can think of is some sort of crazy contraption that uses the audio channel. Otherwise, an OSD or telemetry alerts would be used.

You could also do it the simple way: Have the buzzer in the plane next to the microphone, and that would work- provided you have a speaker hooked up on the ground.
