Hi,

Do you have any suggestion for a motor and esc for a 550 grs (w/ bat) foam plane, it is 40 inch wingspan and will run with a 8x3.8 prop and a 3s bat. I do not want speed nor acrobatic capabilities, just slow flight.

Thanks

Where are you located? This can make a difference on the brand of motor or vendor of recommendation. Country of location is enough info.

Good to know, I live in Mexico and have bought all my previous rcsupplies from hobbyking (international warehouse)

Thanks, there are some local shops but too expensive, even with import taxes HB is much cheaper.

The motor you suggest says "Factory quoted thrust: 350g+" ; Thrust should match my weight or it is different?

Absolutely! should be plenty of power.

A good rule of thumb for starting to pick a motor is the watt system.
25 watts-per-pound - airplane is typically hand-launched and won't do much more than just fly around
50 watts-per-pound - airplane is hand-launched, would ROG off of hard surfaces, and perform mild aerobatics
75 watts-per-pound - airplane would ROG off of a grass field, climb well, and perform nice aerobatics
100 watts-per-pound - airplane would nearly go straight up, can handle all the aerobatics
