Started building a Noob Tube today. Turns out a swappable pod will fit unmodified inside the standard 2x2 tube with two foam board shims. I thought it was kind of cool. Didn't plan on going this route but I had a new pod next to me when I finished the tube and the light bulb turned on.
I think I will continue to build it this way, using the standard landing gear skewer holes and rear skewer to hold it in. This gets rid of one of the only things I dislike about the swappables, and that is the front skewers that the firewall lines up on. Hard front hits tend to rip them through the foam, and usually takes chunks with it.
Also, notice the very manly shop, topped off with the pink hot glue gun.
