Have you tested how much weight it can carry? I'd love to do some fpv with it...

The thing that impressed me most is that I could pay in Australian dollars, so no gouging on the conversion from Paypal and no international transaction fees!

No I haven't tested it for max weight capacity but I don't think it has a chance with my GoPro :p!

I think you could do a minimalist micro FPV with it because Bruce (xjet) has done it with a LadyBird and I think this little quad is stronger than the LadyBird.

It is swinging 135mm props with a fairly large twist.

Bruce's setup is pretty specialist. He bought a micro vtx and camera to run the lot on a seperate 1s battery.

You can get the VTX module from Foxtech here:

http://www.foxtechfpv.com/tx5823-200mw-8ch-58g-tx-module-for-nano-flyers-p-272.html

You can run it from a 1S although the voltage is a bit high. I have one and use a 1S Li Ion Cell phone battery so it should run just fine from the V929 stock battery with a LC filter.

Use a simple wire antenna cut to the length required by the channel you choose.

My 929 has arrived! I only got to pull it out of the box and have a look. Haven't bound it up yet.

I was pleasantly surprised to find 4 extra batteries and an extra charger enclosed, so now I have a whopping 10 batteries!

The quad is a little bigger than I was expecting. I'm looking forward to some payload testing

Good deal! Extra stuff is always good. I am anxious to know your impressions once you fly it.

Note that this is my first multirotor and I don't do helis (besides the toy coaxial one I use to exercise my dogs). But I'm under the impression it's pretty easy to fly. In any case, I'm a fast learner!

Control has 20%, 40%, 60% and 100%.
Stay away from 100% till you can hover and maneuver well.

100% is strictly stunt mode.

40% is a good learning control value. 20% gives almost no control at all in my opinion.

The hardest thing I found was keeping it off the ceiling in a room with 8' ceilings.

I made a new canopy from a throw away plastic drink cup that extended above the plane of the blades to keep them from inadvertent ceiling contacts which keeps the wife much happier about indoor excursions.

I got the BNF version for use with my 9x... But rates are duly noted. I was planning on 60% rates, but I think I'll take your suggestion and go for 40%. I definitely will have issues with our small lounge room, so backyard and front deck flying looks to be the place to learn!

I've got it bound up to the 9x. I've tried to trim it in the lounge room (pretty tiny room) and think I've got it fairly close. The throttle was reversed, as was the elevator. Other than that it runs great with the 9x.

It's pretty obvious that it's got a lot of lift for such a small quad. After spending a good 10 minutes trying to trim it, I did a circuit of the room facing forward the whole time. This is going to take a bit of practice, but I've got pretty much the whole morning on Friday (helping with cooking for a work Christmas party).

You will be amazed the first time you flip it! ;) with a full battery 10 to 12' is enough height for a flip. I did my first quite by accident. :D

I'm a little embarrased. Spent all that time trimming, then with the next battery realised the centre trim is based on gyro position when you power up...

I'm pretty pleased with my progress after running three batteries through it. However I can't seem to get them charged quick enough! Looking forward to some flipping tonight.

Wow it gets away from you fast when you're outside and pushing it a bit! I tried some flipping, but it didn't recover very well. It 'leafed' down instead of steadying back into the hover. Any tips?

I'm currently charging batteries again. I'm determined to have all 10 ready for tomorrow

I have that problem outside if there is the slightest of breeze.
It does stunts best on a fully charged battery.
I don't see the "leafy" characteristics inside until the battery is getting low.

haha, don't worry. The dark side's not taking over, teach. Flying this little thing is fun, but I'd rather fly a fixed wing any day.

On the V929, I ran all 10 batteries through it today as planned. The breeze came up occasionally, causing 'leafing', but for the most part I zoomed around both outside and under cover (an old woolshed). I tried flips on fresh batteries and found the recovery to be OK. I had a couple of good crashes too, but the thing's still flying as well as it ever did. One crash (into a post) bent a prop, but it bent back into place and didn't affect performance at all.
