Sweden SAAB company planned upgrade their planes in the 40´s, and made a few designideas, and prototypes.
It was a little bit of this, a little bit of that , it could seem to be. The J27 got the cowlintake similar to Mustang, some of Fuselage as Spitfire, Mustang placement of radiator, Martin Baker contra prop system, Fairy firefly similarity at wings ( rounder wingtips than Spitfire, thicker roots, and other flairing) and so on.
Firefly designer was also helping in the Swedish Super Spitfire (as called) and got Fairey’s characteristic Youngman flaps.
Their earlier model L26 was made by a few, but J27 showed be superior, and the "Super Spitfire" was the last prop driven fighter by Sweden before jetplane age came.
As many knows...unique unusual planes are what most of my builds are, even this time
Mini warbirds is something ive not worked on, and about time to do it. I used the plans on the "Master style" Mini Spitfire from @Grifflyer as the start, and reworked the parts to fit the SAAB, who i got a 3D drawing of.
By put the profile lines from the SAAB on top off the Spitfire and Mustang, it was easy see what/and where it needed work/rework.
Here is a few photoshop pictures of a model who isnt fully correct,, and a profile drawing on the SAAB L27 , Mustang and Spitfire who shows some of similaritys.
