Your 2018 Flite Test Forum WWII Design/Build Challenge! is what sent me over the edge

Don't get me wrong I was already leaning way out and hoping.

No seriously. I had been toying around with some build ideas, but that challenge lit something up. I wish I had a better idea on how to achieve success with the planes I chose. But the process was right up my alley. I still plan to finish up the Kalinin K-12 Firebird and watch it crash.

So I have been on an off the fence about if to keep with it. So many failures over dumb things. Or I get the no-go signal at the launch pad so-to-speak when I notice the servo horn dislodged. Or I have the spin configure to loose the nut, not tighten and loose the last one, just as my son is getting excited about success.

If anything, I use this hobby as a way to practice emotion management and the proper way to handle failures, disappointment and stress. A great way to display model behavior for my children.

WAIT, wait... that's not the one...

Maybe here is clearer... (for the non-SciFi dorks)


...and A better way to keep the positive in my heart.

It really has been an amazing source of Joy and Utter disappointment. Elation, and Devastation. Zen calm, and Dash Gripping Tense fear, and mostly an amazingly creative outlet, that brings focus and happiness.
The roller-coaster sure is a fun ride!

Now I need to link all these builds so we can find them all later with and pictures for my custom builds.

Absolutely keep it rolling! You're so close on that one, I think it'll leave you feeling empty to walk away. Success is within reach!

Why yes, yes it is.

And I think it does set a really good example for our youths (or 'utes depending on where you're at) of how to go from dream to reality overcoming all the challenges with tenacity and teamwork - and acknowledging, dealing with, and enjoying the emotional roller coaster in a mature way. Or that's a goal anyway.

I guess proof is in the pudding, I'm "slacking"... alright, time to get outta 1st, and push it up to 3rd. (and order more servos.)

I'm really interested in seeing the Synergy box-wing build... For a while now, I've been considering making my own.

YES! I have so much I'm excited about.

I have an alpha plan for the Synergy. I actually made 2 versions, one is round and conical. the other is like a boxy football fuselage.
I wanted to at least put it together and see before I put up a bunch of Rubbish. I go back and forth,

• Wait until success
• post as I go... like a journey tale.

Anyway. I will be putting that together soon. And update my build thread (if I can find it) or start a new one.
You should make you own too.

I was thinking of doing the boxy football style fuselage, easier to make out of foamboard.

I think it's better for the readers to show the whole process, any obstacles you encounter and document will be a learning moment for us as well. ^_^

Hey FoamyDM... How's the project going?

I actually decided to do a Beechcraft Starship instead.
36" wingspan, 1806 2300kv motors, and 6" props on 2s for now, since it's what i have on hand.

I love it. Get a thread started! I will "watch" and follow your progress. I uh... Added a LOT of builds in the fantasy contest plus two existing, plus three others. One for a large edf. One tiny kingfisher and the cub for my clubs cub fly-in. All done and very fun.

FFO can be a great opportunity to thin out the "in service" list with the combats! Helps create more room in the hangar and great memories at the same time!

Are you planning to be at FFO for the whole time? I'm going to need to leave mid-Friday but will be there Wednesday to help setup the flight line and all Thursday for the flying and fun!
