Now that there's been the great releasing of the Flerken, it's time to share your Flerken experiences!
What we would like to see is a whole bunch of pictures, and videos, of your builds, flights and also crashes. Let everyone know the successes and failures that you are having with this new Bixler design. It's Flerken Time!!!

Just finished my first build of the Flerken! Got an aura with a lemon in it as this is the first build of this plane and frankly I don't trust my skills as this is my first delta. SBK went together in four hours. My next one ( cuz I know I'm puttin this one in the dirt) will go much faster!

I built the Flight Test Flerken, But then didn't have the guts to fly it. LOL You see, I know how bad I built it. It would seem that they are hard to mess up as long as you have a RedBeard around! Lol

The Flerken build was really "fun"! i got the Body-to-wing top plate messed up. on the video i didn't see that the score cuts were supposed to go face down... than the wing dId not fit flush with the body, and had to glue and tape together, I had no idea that i needed a servo center tool. one of the wings dihedral is More than the other one. I made a bunch of noob mistakes... Dunno if the hunk of junk is gunna fly. :(

I made a lot of noob mistakes on mine too. When it was done I looked at it and named it Franken Flerken! But it flew! Chk out the vid

I missed my annual Edgar Allen Poe tribute poem. But maybe not. . . Let me tell you a story. Not a story of a drone. But the story of a plane.

Hello all, I am new to the Forum but not to flying. I ordered the Millennium Flerken and am looking forward to the build and flying. I have seen mention of a Flerken Rudder mod. I am looking to add a rudder to my Millennium Flerken. Has anybody tried this?
Any other Millennium Flerken owners here?

Thanks for your time,

The Flerken looks so cool. Myself and three friends did a group build. All four flew nicely, although one had a signal (?) issue with one of them.

The tail heavy issue is real though. I built mine lightest, but still had to pack the entire top front of the nose with play doh, and a few small lead weights for good measure. If I do it again, I’ll try stripping all the internal paper for everything behind the COG. It lends itself well to this since basically the entire wings and the main part of the fuselage are all behind the COG. I’m also considering re-doing the plans to extend the noise by a couple inches. I think extending the angular nose part would look best, although extending the flat part in the middle would be easier.

The vertical stabilizers seem ideally suited for rudders. They’re pretty far back, and the doubling over lends itself nicely to cutting rudders in. I’d want to put a single servo in the middle with two control rods, like the ailerons on the Bloody Wonder, but the control rods might interfere with the prop, so two servos might make more sense. In flight, there seems to be a fair amount of yaw instability, so rudders would be helpful, particularly if combined with a gyro.

Lastly, I used this as a platform for FPV. I finally unboxed the SpeedyBee F411 Wing that I bought over a year ago. There’s lots of space to install all the bits and pieces, and the removable nose really makes it easy to access everything! Very cool design.

You could still use 1 servo, and just have a linkage going across like a biplane. The Eflite Ultimate 3d does this with the ailerons. 👍

The Flerken is difficult to balance at the prescribed COG marks. To get mine to balance, I moved the ESC as far forward as possible and the battery (2200mah 3s) was over the front by an eight inch. After doing that, I still had to stuff the nose full of pla-doh and added another 3/4oz of lead weights. And even then it was just barely balanced in the COG spots.

Yesterday I was experimenting with the COG and I started moving the battery back a half inch at a time to see how it would fly. I ended up moving it back about 2.5 inches and it kept flying better each time. It was balancing at about 7/8” behind the COG points. So then I removed all the weight that I had added, moved the battery back to the front, and it balances in the same spot.

So when I used a 2200mah 3s, moved all the way forward, it balances 7/8” behind the COG points. In that position it flies very nicely, substantially better than original. I would say it flies a similarly to a Bloody Wonder. It’s way lighter, turns easier, it’s still stable, and it lands less awkwardly. The only downside is that it’s a little twitchy on the pitch when flying straight and level, but I’m going to add a bit more expo to counter that.
