Help! New DX6 will not bind to anything

I have a new DX6. A friend gave me his nano QX that he had bound to his DX6. No matter what I do, it will not bind to the nano QX or the receiver it came with.

I have tried new models and downloaded models. Tried the binding button and binding in the menu. Tried various distances between the transmitter and receiver.

The transmitter says binding for about 20 seconds and then says binding failed. I am fairly new to the hobby but my friend is not and he has not been able to bind it either.

I have tried everything I could find on the internet with no luck.

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

From Q&A on the Horizon site -
"It's in the manual, pg 9. On the DX6i, which I use, it's the trainer switch. Have the radio off, plug in the battery on the Nano, the blue light will flash looking for the "hand shake". Stand back about 3 feet, Hold the trainer switch on the DX6i and turn it on at the same time. Hold the switch for about 4 seconds and release. Wait a few seconds and see if the blue flashing light goes solid, if so, success. Your bound. If not, try the same process again but stand a little further away. It seems the sweet spot for the Nano is about 3 to 5 feet from the transmitter to the receiver. Others have said you have to be right next to it. Mine was about 3 feet. Hope this helps."

The procedure is the same for the newer DX6. It worked on my DX6 like a charm.

Best regards,

I fly the nano QX on the new DX6.

Download the nano qx fpv and upload into DX6. Put battery in QX and place on level surface. Press and hold button on top of radio before switching on power button and radio will power into bind mode. PCH's distance is dead on.

Worst case scenario, if it fails to bind to anything, call horizon Hobby tech support and have then call you back. I have a radio that was in THE VERY FIRST lot that hit the market and had to send it in for service. the tech asked me to navigate to a screen and he gave me instructions on how to send it in.

The other new DX6 was purchased after September 2014 and have had no issues..

Is the Spektrum logo on the top illuminated? If it isn't, then the transmitter isn't sending out a signal.

Like it was said above, make sure you have the battery plugged into the craft and hold the bind plug down BEFORE powering on the transmitter. Hold the button all the way through binding, even once it's popped up onto the screen saying "binding". Don't let go of it until the transmitter goes into it's regular power up mode.

I believe you are on to something. The logo on lights up for maybe a second when I first turn it on. During binding the light has never been on.

Perhaps I have a bad controller. Just have to find to time to call in I guess.

I appreciate everyone's assistance in this matter.

I just got of the phone with tech support. They had me go into the settings and go to version data. Where it says RF PID: mine says ER which is bad. So now I have to send it in for repair.

Good call John234.

That is exactly what my DX6 did.
They checked the service order as in work on 29 Jan. I sent it FedEx 2day.
I also sent them the RX with the long antenna cut at the receiver, got snagged by a prop.

My RF PID also indicates ER. Oh no!
I will call tech support and find out what they have to say.
DX6 was purchased in April 2015.

I know this is an old thread but my DX6 just started this. It will not bind to any of my rx's and I tried six. I am aware of the procedure and it is acting funny no orange light, no audible binding or bind faildvoice alert. Thanks for any help.

Call the tech support line if the light will not illuminate. The have a call back feature, I recommend using it.
