Hi! I am trying to figure out whats going on with my brothers 100a programmable boat brush-less esc that he got recently. Here's what's going on: So when I start revving up the motor it runs just fine but when I get to about half throttle it starts surging/ cutting out/ and stuttering. (It doesn't do it with a smaller prop or with no prop). I was thinking it was my cheap battery, but then I tried the motor on my 50a esc and it doesn't doesn't do it. (I could only do a quick burst because the motor draws like 80A and I didn't want to fry my esc) So that counts out the battery, then I remembered that this esc is programmable so I looked at the owners manual and found out that the default settings are: Cell 7s,Timing mode setting: 2-4 pole in runner motor, PWM setting: for low rpm and low pole count motors.
So I set it to Cell: 4S, Timing mode: for 10 - 14 pole out runner motors, PWM setting: for most out runner motors.
But it still seems to not be working (I can post a video if you want to hear whats going on) So I tried programming it but it seems like its not saving the settings that I set because when I turn it off and then back on again, and go into program mode the settings are all at default again. I followed the instructions for saving and programming (Its the kind of esc where you program by morse code, using the throttle to navigate the settings as well as confirming and saving the settings.)
