receiver mode in beta flight won't work

OK to start off with, im a new drone builder and got a x:bolt 250 for Christmas and decided to put it together. I was very meticulous in the soldering and putting it together to make sure everything was done correctly, so finally, i was able to begin programing the flight controller! i plugged it in, downloaded the drivers and off i went beginning to test things. I was able to callebrate all ESC's, the motors ran fine, and i callebrated the accelerometer, but when i went to settup my reciever and controller (transmitter/spektrum dx6e) nothing would work, so after fidling around in the configuration page for a hour trying to get the imputs to move on the reciever page, i wanted to test the motors again so i disconnected from betaflight (this is where my memory gets fuzy) i plugged my battery in and tried to connect again, and i dont know what happened but my reciever just would not connect to beta flight and it wouldnt let me enter boot mode to flash new software. i gave up and went to hobby town, and after 1 1/2 hr of the drone specialist messing with the drone, betaflight and everything imaginable,we still couldn't get that dang thing to work! he gives me an employee discount on a decent Lux V2 FC, and i go home to install everything on my drone. i get everything connected, the reciever (spektrum fpv racing serial reciever with diversity) was able to bind to my dx6e, and everything in betaflight was working just fine, so finally, back to my first issue, when i go to configuration and select the serial reciever in the dropdown list, and spektrum 2048 , save and reboot and also select uart 4, save that and finaly go to reciever, still nothing. :/ so any suggestions are appreciated!! if you need any more info just ask and ill get that to yall ;)

The lux v2 has Beta flight 3.1.7 on it and I’m confused about the configuration question, which one is the configurator?

ElectriSean is asking about the Chrome app betaflight configurator client / GUI that's used to configure Betaflight.

It should tell you what version you're using when you first load it, in the title area (you can see from this screen snippet that I'm running 10.0.0 as listed in the black area under the logo, on linux, based on the /dev/ttyS4 serial port, so you can see how "a picture says a thousand words"):

It would be helpful if you can describe your current connections from the receiver to the flight controller, or better yet, take and post a high detail, close picture of the wiring with good lighting so we can try to help you figure this out.
