slope soaring

Here is an elevon design that flies pretty good. Basic yaw stability and a good CG and even a DTFB board can fly.

Today I made a little wing - well not so little!

My plan is to add the pusher motor mount, but effectively set it up as a sloper!

The FT Versa build is very well known and I did not vary from it so far - today was all about the the three wing sections going together - I did add a couple of spacer blocks to make sure the aerofoil was as symmetrical as possible - so far so good! 😆

I managed to get the elevons fitted with the pushrods - I supported the pushrods inside sleeves fixed to popsicles sticks - this is the first time I have used hinged FB (I used hot glue smeared on the edges to reinforce the hinge) - the paper on the DTFB comes off so easily!

I visited my southerly beach mega site today - sadly the wind was from the north, but what a flying site, I am very excited to give it a go soon - from the launch site it is about 30m drop to the beach, and the beach has some depth to it (maybe have to watch the tides)!

also, a bit more progress on the Versa - the motor and prop is in - 1000kv motor with an 8x6 prop - time to plug in the Rx and ESC and look at the Elevon mixing - I think it will be a bit light up the front with the pusher in place - the battery box is a bit thin to accept the 2400 3 cell lipo, so I need to think on that a bit - I will probably combine both hatches with a slightly bigger cover that sits up 5mm higher. o_O

Wow that looks like a great launch site, I am jealous :). And boy what an amazing build! Remind me what Tx you have?

@mayan - I run an old school JR X378 (FM) and an FSi6s (quad Tx) - the i6s is a nice rig but does not have any pre mixes - I set up the Elevons tonight (same as my i6s thread) works well - Elevons are just done with two mixes between the aileron and Elevator channels - my throws are a bit unbalanced, so I need to do some tweaking there and set them at the recommended 12 deg - CG to check then it will be good to go! :D

I use my JR on the Pheonix hybrid with a few more tricks programmed (that I am yet to use) ;)

I am lining up for a Jumper T16 (watching for when they release better sticks) - no rush!

Finished the Versa - elevens dialed in at 12 deg, CG sorted with two bolts added into the nose, and the hatch is set with Bonnet bulge at a slightly steeper angle to fit the battery!

So now I have the DLGv1, the Versa, and my Hybrid Pheonix to throw off the cliff!

I should probably maiden the Versa at the park to see what I am dealing with before the cliff!
