Slow And Steady Wins The Racer!!

Yours is more of an extension of the rudder/vertical. I just put a fin on the bottom. Regardless what you have will give it directional stability during straight flight and high alpha since its at the bottom of the fuse.

Put the motor box/battery tray in, I did some small mods to the nose side vents and swept them back a little for a more custom profile

I didn't mean to have the spinner stuffed under the cowl, but I like the look of it. I didn't take into account where the backing plate sits once installed, I just measured from the bottom of the prop shaft to the firewall, but it turned out nice

This is a 9 " prop on here which may be the smallest I would go. It is a 9x7 which should go nice for a 3s or even 4s would be better. I think I might do the maiden on a 10x45 though, just to keep it docile on the first flight, land it so it will fly again then step it up.

With the motor and battery installed as it sits it balances at around 3/4 - 1" back from the LE. This is as far forward that a battery will go so if I even put a up to 5450mah in I still have lots of room to move it back. The drawn lines on top of the nose are where I will be putting the next phase of the turtle deck construction, it will pop up at a taper to 3/4" above the existing cowl and transition into the hatch. First i will be finishing off the bottom of the nose and moving up and back form there

Very clean build! The FT racer is on my list, but I have too many unfinished projects that I need to finish first. Will follow this anyway
Thanks man, appreciate the compliment. It is a "Slow and Steady" thread so join in whenever you get around to it, no need to hurry. I have some flyable weather coming up next week so I want to get this done and ready to maiden before the serious cold sets in again. It should be fun.

Just came across your You Tube channel earlier today. Great videos!
No kidding right! this guy knows how to entertain with his vids! And the scenery is amazing, so jealous. Wish I had places like that to fly instead of praries as far as the eye can see. In the spring I want to do some decent filming by the river valley, do some on-board, static and hat cam with a bunch of flights and stitch it all together.

I am getting used to the default editor on windows 10 to get better final footage, just took some playing around. Still way more to learn though

What's this river valley? Is it a river running through a valley? That would be some nice winter shots...

Depends on where you are but it can be difficult to access in the winter. I live just up from the river valley by half a mile or so but to get there is thick bush, and covered in snow. There is a park or two I could fly that are beside the river. There is also some cool bridges to fly around with farmers fields flanking the river. It will be more of a summer thing though. Risky if you lose your plane in the water though, good luck getting it back
