Inspiring one another in the hobby is an important part of who Flite Test and our community are. This thread is intended to showcase your Winter builds with the hope of inspiring someone else to do the same. Please encourage your friends to participate in this. Who knows, maybe we can use some of this for a FT team project... ;)

Gonna finish my sig skybolt then either put together a lanier laser, ace staudacher, or a sterling cabin waco. Will probably put a few spads together too

Short term, I just printed a set of patterns for another Sponz Foam Wonder.

Long term, I am laying out the components and getting ready to start on my FF23 Barnstormer build, a 72" Curtiss Gulfhawk.

I plan to build a Barn Stormer of some flavor for FF2023 and a Scout XL at the very least. I'm going to wait for the updated Scout XL plans and try to modify them for a removeable wing.

I may or may not tackle either my A10 MS or F16 Limited SBK over the winter.

Working on a Dlg at the moment, a 'Lightning Bug' all balsa mosquito class glider based on the 'Bug' by Carl Dowdy ,plans drawn by the Hughes brothers.
Started it several monthes ago in hope of flying it before the end of summer but building supplies were and still are slow to arrive.
I will hopefully finish it over this winter ready for next years flying season.
I am also thinking of building a foamboard version more of a slopesoarer with ailerons, rudder and elevator instead of just the basic rudder, elevator dlg version.
A few pics of progress so far, still need to finish the wings and fuselage, cover everything and install the radio.

I'm building from scratch approx 24"wing span Fike with foam board and FT power pack. The last scratch build I did was a peanut scale scratch build rubber band powered stick and tish Fike 45 years ago-- yes I'll be 60 tomorrow!! I love the new tec and foam compared to back in the day!

Well I'm building (with a friend) TWO 1/6 scale (65") Kitfox STi's. Balsa and designed by myself
My friend called dibs on the freedomfox, so I'm doing a plane called the "FireFox" (a friend of trent's still in the middle of his build)

CAD pic for good measure

Going to rebuilding, rebinding, and building a bunch this winter. Indoor season has begun already here in central Ohio. flew and bound my umx night vapor, Vapor Lite, and a handfull of "stock" Inductrix Blades. need to fix my ground station since it is not powering up. Will post FPV DVR feed flying various things at the indoor fly.

Have a few larger RMRC Foam builds to complete, Strix Stratosurfer to rebuild, FT builds to finish, 3D printed builds to finish, etc. plan to hit next spring running full speed!

Hi,
Is anyone here experienced in scaling up plans? I am going to double the size of the FT Legacy, and I need to double the size of the plans to do that. If anyone can help, it would be very much appreciated. Have a great winter building!

After owning a carbon cub S2 for a few years I disovered foam board planes and have been trying to make one that works well. First I built a mini scout and it was horrible. I had 4 9 gram servos and on the maiden the second I powered the motor up it smoked and that was that.

Then I put in a new motor and it flew like a massive turd. Pretty much just a controlled crash, wouldnt stay in the air longer than 10 seconds before flopping to the floor. I built another one with 3 servos all crammed in the fuselage and it flew better but still was absolutely horrible. I had the COG correct, I am pretty sure the props I got from aliexpress are to blame here. They were super flimsy and didnt have much pull.

So I decided I am done messing with the scout and I want to make an F22, so I did. I also got some 5x4.3x3 props since I couldn't find any 6x4.5. These props are much stiffer and are supposedly polycarbonate.

This one flew fantastic for the 10 seconds it was in the air, then the LemonRX receiver cut out and the plane took a nose dive into the floor from 100ft up. I now have a spektrum AR620 to install and hopefull that will work fine, then I will build a fresh one. I also want to get a 2 vane prop instead of the 3 im currently using, but I cant find 6x4.5 anywhere.
