Fun with colour packing tape FT3D

Getting ready for my first FliteTest build and I'm wondering about your taping technique. I have seen where some cover the flat foamboard before they cut it out, is that what you did/recommend? The only taping I have done so far was on a foam plane kit so it was after the build. Thanks.

I have just decided I was going to build the FT3D. I still consider myself a novice pilot but I feel that I have the capabilities of jumping easily into this plan. I have built nothing but pushers and bank n yank and want to learn more about rudder control. I love the red and black look and will inspire me for mine.
