is there a maximum speed of flying without a license?

I wanna make a plane go really really fast. It probably wont go that fast but still I'm curious if there is a speed limit for them.

538mph is wild… I don’t think my spool of lwpla is enough. What about 538kmh, that seems more achievable.

I think the limit is 100mph......But I know a lot of people who go faster and just don't publicize on the news.....I think the current speed record for a foam plane is like 168mph!
I think as long as you aren't being harmful to other people and are on your own land or some big field no one is going to care if you go faster....It's up to you.(y)

ReadymadeRC has a speed bounty for the nano goblin and full size goblin. Nano is almost to 200mph.

More companies should do that. Including FT imo.

The possibilities and issues of dealing with those + 100 speeds is mind boggling. Dealing just with the control surface flutter is hard enough, let alone finding a big enough site to fly without being a constant circle turn........prop going sonic......wouldn't be foamboard, probably glass covered. Do the landing wrong and you have a crater and a pile of foam fluff...... actually anything wrong and you get the fluff explosion...

The arrow can do it without those problems.

There is really no law or for fact, age. Back in the 80's, my 10 year old son went to the AMA National's and flew in Formula 1 which had speeds in the 180 to 200 + mph(65 percent nitro at 145 decibels)) doing 10 laps pylon fashion.

He flew at 10-20 ft above the ground and by the way there isn't a throttle, you started full engine and after the race, went upstairs, cut the throttle by pinching the fuel line and then one chance to land it with the engine off and since there were 3 other racers, have to miss them on landing. Each second, it covered almost 300 ft and most by doing a knife edge..

We were on the race circuit for 3 years and he won mostly 1st with a couple of seconds in standard class. I only beat him once due to racer's luck.
Top speed, I ever hit was 202mph (radar gun) testing. We had to shape our wooden props and he used that prop when he had tough competition.

In the USA, currently, to fly legally without a part 107 license or additional waivers, 100mph is the limit.
You must past the TRUST knowledge, test, be at least 13 years of age, fly no higher than 400ft above the ground, and register any aircraft weighing over 250g.
Do with this information what you will.

Wow. That's the first I've heard that 100 mph part. Learn something new pretty much every day.
Can you link that, please?
There will be other occasions when someone asks, and we'll want to be able to point them in the right direction.

That's my interpretation at least. Part 107 is what specifies the 100mph limit.

Actually, now that I'm re-reading AC91-57C, it seems that that limitation may not apply to recreational flyers. It is unclear to me exactly how the hierarchy of regulations stacks up.
Its not mentioned anywhere on the FAA page for recreational flyers either. https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_flyers
