So I was looking on the outerzone balsa plans website and I found this plane the first thing I thought was FT old fogey. Is it only me does anyone else think this looks like the old fogey from flite test. Also does anyone know of some plans good for someone who is going to do their first balsa scratch build.

Andy Clancy actually has a string of 'Toon-Scale Planes and I think that was the inaugural. The other designs are on OZ, plus the speedy bee.
I think those designs bring out the best in modelers, for instance:

When you have two engines half the size of the actual engine the plane was intended for:

No, it isn't time to overhaul that engine, yet - plenty of good pullin' before you have to strip it down (Big Lazy Bee):

I have one Lazy Bee in the bones and one in the kit box sitting right here - not sure when I will get them done.

i just built the "aerogull" a 47" wingspan tow line free flight glider.
it turned out GREAT!!!
i have built the guillows spitfire from a kit,but this is the first scratchbuild from plans i have built.
i will upload a pic in a few.
i plan on putting a motor and servos in it to make an old motor glider.
i also found that covering with 1.2 mil doculam on the wings is easier than monokote and cheaper but is only available in clear, but can be painted over.
i did the H-stab with yellow dollar store tissue paper and glue stick with water based polyurathane two coats and WOW! i like both methods!
i am now hooked on balsa again!!!!!! damn you flite test! now i have a new addiction, the only problem i have now are finding complete plans that i can print and build!
try looking on hip pocket builders http://www.hippocketaeronautics.com/hpa_plans/index.php here is a link
you will be hooked too!
good luck!!

these plans are complete and acurate
i just made rhe ruder a little bigger for athourity.

It's actually based on the Buzzard Bombshell. Josh mentions this, I think, in the build video. If you search on outerzone, there are a couple different iterations of the Buzzard Bombshell.

If you search in youtube you will see quite a few foamie versions of the Lazy Bee.
RCG has quite a few, too, if you want ideas.
