She is an absolute beauty! The F14 was the aircraft of my childhood. Love what you have created here.

I note that all your jet designs are without any landing gear. Is there a particular reason for that?
Weight. The F18 has a 7 min flight time. The F4 just under 6. The F14 has over 5 min of flight time.

Gear can be added but it will severly cut into flight times.

5 years ago I began building RC planes. The 2nd plane I made was an F14. It always has and always be my all time favorite.

Over the last 5 years I have revisited the F14 a number of times. It had been about two years since my previous attempt.

I had decidided I didnt want to tackle it until I could nail some of the more complex lines. With some of the recent foam shaping discoveries. I decided it was time onne again😁

Today, I got the current prototype up in the air. I could not be happier.

The maiden flight was perfect. It is very floaty for a jet. it flew for a full 5 minutes.

It was very gentle with the wings out and was very stable with the wings in.

With the light wing loading, it could easily cruise around at 30-40% throttle.

Here are some highights and some pics of earlier versions over the years(including the big metal one)😁😁

Super stoked about this release. Stephen has come with a number of graphic sets including the TGM Rogue Nation livery. Additionally, he has come up with the ultimate T shirt, I can't wait to get these printed.

Check out the pics and vid of this beast😁😁

Hi John,

The F-14 is the genesis of transforming giant robot-planes from several anime series, i.e. Macross (transforming veritech fighter) and the original Jetfire from Transformers. I grew up watching "Top Gun" and the F-14 was the reason I got into model aviation. If you haven't already guessed the F-14 is my all-time favorite plane. It will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you so much for creating this Master Series plane it is in my opinion your greatest achievement and the very pinnacle of your foam board designs and craftsmanship. I am so excited to to make this plane and get it up in the air and make it part of my hanger. I'm shaking with excitement and can barely type because of my hands trembling. Hopefully it will come out soon, I keep checking the Flite Test store daily to see if it's been released...I feel like a kid and it's Christmas!

Thanks again for all your hard work!

Blessings,
Vic

Great looking model, and amazing photography once again!
I really like the choice of cockpit color this time around, that gold used on many previous models stood out like a sore thumb. (just my opinion)

Hi John,
Your swing wing design-mechanism looks elegantly simple, effective and rigid. The servos used look to be 2 x 25KG-ish high torque servos. Did you reverse on of them and put them on a y-harness so you can use a single channel? Looks like you used laser cut plywood for the swing wing mech, how did you settle on this design was it to keep costs down? I am in constant awe at what you've been able to do with foam board. My wife has to constantly remind me to close my mouth because my jaw keeps dropping when I see your new models. So much engineering, thought and love went into this and I salute you sir.

Blessings,
Vic

Thank you so much fir the kind words :)
I actually need to run these as separate channels. They have to be fine tuned to close properly. Im so excited about this model getting released. We jsut started the build video, it wont be long.

I can say I'm looking forward to this build of one of my favorite birds. I tried building a tomcat a while back, but it was way to complicated. This one looks very promising and absolutely beautiful. Brilliant job! Your swing mechanism gave me a few ideas for one of my projects too.(y)

Will the F-14 be using a twin 70mm EDF setup like the other jets (i.e. F-18, F-4) or twin 80mm EDF? The reason being is I have been holding off on building the F-18 because I only have one pair of 70mm EDFs and their accompanying ESCs...and if the F-14 uses 70mm EDFs (which is what I suspect) I'll have to purchase another 70mm power system:(
