Mighty Mini Master Series Spitfire

DXF files are attached. Thanks GriffFlyer for producing such a fine set of plans and allowing these dxfs to be shared. I've joined the smaller polylines to make continuous polys for cutting and removed the extraneous stuff like text. Where parts require more than one copy, I've duplicated them as required. So really nothing to do but arrange the parts as required and apply the required machining op and output to gcode. I can't wait for the weekend to get cracking on this build. Planning to print your 3D printed parts too GriffFlyer.

Thanks for posting Gremlin RC ! Laser cutting out a set now. :D

So, I finished the Spitfire tonight. It's ready for its maiden flight in the morning. Here are the specs...

1) I went with 9g servos (the 5g servos are a pain to find cheaply right now. Thanks COVID-19).
2) I added a rudder to the build.
3) Emax 2205 2600kV motor.
4) 6x3 prop for the test tomorrow but I'm going to downsize to 5x4.5 when they arrive on Monday.
5) 3S 850 LiPo.
6) 20 amp ESC for now. I'd like to upgrade to a 30 amp. Again... stock is an issue.
7) All in weight is 315 grams. That's going to go up a touch when I add the fairings at the wing root.
8) CG was right on the money with the battery tucked up front.

This was my first "complex" build and it was a ton of fun. I'm finally getting the hang of building these planes. I recently built the mini Mustang and it's one of my favorite airplanes to fly. The thing is a little rocket ship. I'll let you know how the flight goes.

I've just been using friction to hold it on, no problems to speak of yet. If you want you can always use a few magnets to make sure it's super secure.

Thanks! It fits perfectly. And thank you for designing a cool plane. One other quick question. This was my first build without a "power pack." Is ESC cooling an issue with it closed off from airflow? Just wondering.

Man, I’d better build one of these for myself soon! They sure seem like an awesome build!

That's awesome!! Do you have any pics?
I run a 30 amp esc and I haven't got any heat issues even though it doesn't get airflow.

Maiden flight was a success. It wasn't as stable as the Mini Mustang. That thing is rock solid. CG is exactly where it needs to be so I'm guessing the control throws and expo were off so I dialed those back. Here's what I'm going with.

Ailerons: 20 degrees
Elevator: 17 degrees
Rudder: 18 degrees
Expo: 30%

I'll do another flight tomorrow. It's got a TON of power and looks so cool. Great airplane!
