Help! Simulator

Hi guys I wish to purchase a flight simulator( not used one and haven't a clue about them?) so been looking on line and it seems you can buy another unit and plug it into your computer or just buy the cables and use your exciting Trx. I have a Flysky i6 and windows 10 can someone recommend the cable set up or what? many thanks.

Depends what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend.
A while back I bought a Phoenix flight sim pack, it was obviously not the genuine version based on the price. It included all the necessary leads to plug into the various transmitter makes, a disc containing Phoenix flight sim and a dongle which plugs into your PC USB port.

As Phoenix flight sim software isn't supported anymore its sort of become abandonware.
Cant remember which version I got on the disc, after I installing the basic version. I downloaded the latest available version off the internet, version 5.0L I think.
Its worked great and cost less than £10 ( $13 roughly). You can even download Flite test models on to Phoenix and try them out.

If you want Real flight its a lot better obviously, but costs a lot more money

That's $99.99 from Horizon Hobby and probably doesn't include leads or a dongle.

I’ve got real flight 9.5 and to me it’s worth the $$ if you have a spektrum capable transmitter all you need is a dongle, is there dongles for other transmitters that work for realflight?

I use RealFlight 9.5 as well and it did help me with real life flying of the RC types. Did a quick search and there are adaptors that will let you use your TX with it however it may have to be a wired connection. You can create an account on the Knife Edge forums and download a mind blowing number of planes to include most of the Flite Test planes. It does go to note that some planes created on older versions of the game may not work on the most current version but most do and you can always change the parameter's to make em work if they don't fly right. If you do go with RF and use the Knife edge forums for additional planes and flying fields come back here for pointers on downloading them if you need help.

For the FlySky i6 you will need either one of the above-mentioned adapters or the FlySky SM100 cable:

I'm just learning and have been using Pheonix and love it! It is abandonware, so it is no longer supported. However, there are a ton of user models for it, including a lot of FT models. Check out this site to download the needed files: https://www.rc-thoughts.com/phoenix-sim/

If not using a 22 and 1 SIM cable, you will need to download and set up the Pheonix emulator. There is a section on rc-thoughts regarding this.

Here is the how-to page on getting it installed, updated, and adding more planes:

If you go with Pheonix, here is where you can download a number of the FT planes:

Also, check out @rickp's awesome works of art here, including additional FT planes there as well:

Hope this helps!
