Day 8
Completed the fuselage and added the tail.

The only issue was the cut outs on the fuselage bottom front. I had used score marks but they are on the inside. Fortunately I noticed this before I glued it in.

I am not installing the servos just yet as I want to paint it first. The next step was the turtle deck and Josh made it look so easy but I had a lot of problems with making the forward part and will likely need to cut another. Maybe I messed up on the folds.

I made sure that this was a B fold as per the video but it did not take shape like Josh's part. I'll continue with the other 2 parts and revisit this part.

For those parts I made two of each. One set as per plans, and the other set I left out the crease marks. The paper will be peeled, and I'll be curving that area of each. The only negative thing about that is the lines on the outside of the turtle deck will be gone. It kind of takes away from the classic looks. I'll build both and decide which one I like most.

Maybe a good approach as mine is turning out really bad.

I believe what is happening with mine is that the center crease is getting crashed first and distorting the fold.

The good news is that 2 of the turtle neck parts make up the removeable battery hatch so will continue with what I have and maybe do a better job later.

I’m not happy with this. The build has been really smooth up to this part so I am a bit frustrated but maybe I am doing something wrong in forming the 3 turtle neck parts.

I plan on cutting these out again but using a sheet of FT foam (brown) to see if that works any better than $tree FB

Since it’s not structural, you can probably get in there and really widen the relief cuts. Maybe run the thick part of a skewer all the way down the length of each cut so that it bends really easily.

Josh does say in the build video that the relief cuts are only paper deep but will try that if cutting them from a FT sheet does improve the folds.

On another note I do plan on installing an Aura 5 lite and Josh mentions that he made a profile for the Super Scout XL so will try to find it.

I had the same issues folding those parts. I tried it josh's way (with FT foam) and it came out terrible. widened the score cuts with a skewer made it fold to the right shape but it came out about 3/8 " narrower than the fuse. Im thinking airforge's way of peeling paper and having a smooth curve across the turtle deck would work better.

Just noticed that FT have posted the 3d printable instrument panel and steerable tail wheel.

You might want to you check that you did a B fold on the sides as Josh mentions in the build video that it’s easy to make one an A fold and if you did that on both sides it may account for it being 3/8 inch too narrow.

Day 10
Not much to report from yesterday as I was all day manning our club's booth at a local RC event and will be back there today.

I did remake the 3 turtle neck parts with FT foam board but did make the relief cuts deeper to get a decent bend. The middle one I'll have to remake as this is both ends. Notice the difference in the folds ?

Yep. B fold Good. A fold Bad. At some point, everyone does that.

Day 11
After cutting out the middle part of the turtle deck for the third time and getting all the folds correct I am still not that happy with the front and middle parts but since these are removable I'll use them for now and rebuild it later.
