Yes, that is my thinking. However, I don't think I suggested it.I opened up the relief cuts with a bbq skewer as suggested by @AIRFORGE and it did bend much better.

I have also test mounted the main landing gear as well as started work on the tail wheel.
I really like your solution!Day13
I finished painting yesterday.
Installing the steerable tail wheel. I will use the one that I designed for my first Scout XL. There are 2 parts so the tail wheel can be removed if needed.

Also I am hoping to have the servos, control linkages, Aura, RX etc. installed by the end of today as I plan on a maiden tomorrow.
Note: Josh mentioned a separate video for the optional steerable tail wheel but I could not find it.
Yes, that and the config file for the Aura seems to be missing.I really like your solution!
There's a short discussion about the build vid in FT XL Steerable Tail Wheel resource thread, and so far, no one has found the vid.
I think you should be good, as long as you go easy on WOT.Replacing the 3s/3300 battery with a 4s/3300 made it balance.
I don't seem to be the only one that had this issue with the 3s as Steve on the FT Fans FB group had to add 150g to balance with a 3s battery.
Technically I should drop the prop from a 12in to 11in when running with a 4s but don't have an 11in. Would it be better to stay with 12in or go with a 10in ?
If the maiden goes well this morning I plan to fly this at our local club's "Everything Electric" fun fly this weekend and drop some of these parachute men.

Clive did well flying the Scout yesterday on its maiden flight.

I used a 3s/3300 battery as it appeared to balance well on the ground but I think its behaving in the air as if its tail heavy so next time will try a 4s battery.
- he did not crash it
- it takes off using a fraction of our club's 700ft runway
- flies really slowly
- parachute men were afraid to jump, may have to weigh them down a bit.
Video to follow.
I installed a FrSky X8R and connected the sBus output to the Aura and PWM output to the bomb bay servo. I will likely replace it with a ELRS later on.Hi Spitfire 76,
I have a question for you. What Rx are you using with the Aura ? The plane looks great !![]()
