Here I go again starting yet another project when I have so many incomplete ones in various stages of construction.
I have built the FT Simple Stick and it flies great but wanted something the size of the Hanger 9 Ultra Stick that one of my fellow club members flies. I have a FT 2814 1100 kv motor that I recovered from a FT Scout XL that I crashed on its maiden to use. I had made the Scout's wing removable in order to fit into my car and I am sure that had something to do with its demise. This should not be a problem with a Stick XL as it has a removable wing.
I checked to see if any other community member had attempted this build and this seemed to be the one that had made the most progress.
I decided though that I would try this myself as I have never scaled up a FT plan. I found it easy to increase the size by a percentage but soon realized that the gap for the folds has to remain the thickness of the foam board. I've started with one of the simplest parts - the power pod. Since this uses the A fold the inner line of the fold remains where it is and the outer line is moved to reduce the gap back to the original size. Its the reverse for a B fold.
As @Draftman1 found 139% allows the wing parts to fit on one sheet of foam board although as with the Scout XL the top and bottom halves will have to be on separate sheets.
Also working on a 3d printed firewall, similar to the one @SP0NZ designed for the Scout XL

Ft simple stick XL
I wanted to build a xl size stick. If I enlarged it to 150, then the top wing panel would need to be two piece, I brought it down to 139 to allow the wing panel to fit on a sheet of foam board, the wing span will be close to 60” PICTs to follow
