So here we go again
FT P40 build take 2
First day, not a lot done, just the rudder. I'm trying new techniques like ironing bevels. Also for the plans I stickied the paper with low tack paper glue, it is much easier to cut out the shapes.
My daughter found a sticker, we want to integrate it somehow on the plane.
Some eye candy:
Fifth day of the week, second day of the build.
Cut out the fuselage and glued it together.
Used some 6 mm balsa wood instead of the popsicle sticks.
Here is the progress.
Wing spars prepared, left wing cut out and decorated. Canopy prepared.
I want to secure the landing gear better this time, that means piece of balsa in both wings with captive nuts and 3d printed plate on the belly of the wing. The 2 parts will sandwich the wing and the landing gear an they will be connected with screws.
Just got 4 pcs of mg90s metal geared servos from China. Should I mount them or the sg90 are good enough. They (sg90) are 4,6 g lighter each.
The proof of work:
Built the power pod today, no pictures this time... Sorry....
Still to come landing gear, electronics setup and maybe removable wings mod, not decided yet if I will do the removable wings...
How you know!!
Anyway it will stay like this only if I will go for removable wings. In that case the hatch will be fixed to the removable part. The removable part will be fixed to the fuse with rubber bands and the magnets will serve just to not need the BBQ skewers....
maybe because he lost the in flight ....
magnet are strong but don't underestimate the pressure applied by the wind on surfaces
the drag is proportional to the square of the speed, for an airplane that goes twice as fast, the drag will be four times higher
