What's a good plane for beginners

The Bixler does look like it would be a good choice. It's labeled as a glider, so you should be able to throttle back once in the air, and maximize your flying time by gliding.

My only Hobbyking plane so far, is a BFG2600 that I got from the widow of a club member that had passed away. It's a HUGE plane (2.6 meter/8.5 ft. wingspan), but a nice flier, and while I can't say for certain just how old it is, I believe it's been out of production for at least five years now. It's held up pretty well.
I don't know about hobby king cuz the shipping is so expensive

Aight thanks. Also I just feel like it would be cool for a plane to last a long time
When you are starting out and you launch your first plane and if you succeed from trying to break the ground, a 5 minute battery feels like have have been flying forever. then learn how to do maneuvers and landings just have fun.

I would prefer an RTF, as I know BNFs don't really save money when you're starting out and you want something cheap. Anyways, does anyone have an opinion. I would also prefer at least 4 channels, ad a budge of about 120 dollars. I also need a long flight time, AT LEAST 20 minutes. I was looking at the Bixler 3 and the XK a430 edge, but I was wondering if there was anything cheaper. Any ideas? Additionally, what about the bixler 1?
I think i want something with multiple protocol

not gonna happen.

you want a bnf and multi protocol radio, you're looking at $300.+ and 5-10minutes on a battery

The best RTF I know of is the one I learned how to fly on that will be their horizon hobby carbon cub it is three modes ranging from beginner to expert and its a fantastic flyer and does everything you’ll ever need except for gray aerobatics

In order of preference:

1. Dragonfly from Horizon Hobby
2. Skynetic Huntsman V2 Glide from MotionRC
3. Freewing Pandora 4-in-1 from MotionRC

None of the rest are appropriate for beginners. You won't learn much if your first moments result in a destructive crash. Start simple.

Why is the Dragonfly your highest preference?

It is a true beginner aircraft. Plus, Horizon Hobby is an extremely reputable dealer.

I would have suggested something with AS3X/SAFE, because in my opinion that is the best way to learn, especially to get orientation muscle-memory well established. One of the most common errors in new pilots is to automatically move the sticks the wrong way when the aircraft is coming toward them. It takes practice to instinctively roll out of a turn (instead of tightening) when turning toward yourself. SAFE lets you learn that through repetition without dirt diving.

Hands down the Sky Trainer 182 from Horizon Hobby. Working flaps? Big airfoil? Regular prop vs. pusher prop? 1400mm vs 900mm? If you can afford it, this is the one you will most likely have success on. As for orientation, if you've done any ground RC (cars, trucks, tanks, etc) orientation will not be a problem for you. Going from ground (pistol grip radio) to air (sticks) was the trickiest part.

Do you have batteries and charger?

I kinda like that Pandora 4-in-1, but the airfoil foam looks like it's not re-inforced. With Hobby Zone/Horizon Hobby foam, the airfoil is re-inforced with plastic that is inlaid with the foam to provide strength at the most crucial areas. I don't see that in this foam and can't be sure it's designed that way by E-Flite in the Sky Trainer. That's my only concern, the (seeming) weakness of the wing/tail surfaces.

Also, since you're looking at PNP's, why not one of these?

I'm gonna pick up the Beaver (why did Jerry Mathers' face pop into my head) in the next couple weeks. I'll probably start a thread on it and let ya'll know how it goes.
