While looking for paint ideas on the internet I came across a museum in Dallas, TX that has a virtual tour around the Chance Vought V-173 “Flying Pancake”

For the Virtual Tour click here, then click on the little person figure on the right.

Here is the link to some info - https://www.flightmuseum.com/aircraft/chance-vought-v-173/

I am thinking this paint scheme is doable, even though it is a different model, it is a starting place. Now to get moving on this project, time is ticking close to FFO18!

Made some progress today. It has been hard to find time to work on it.

I had to stop here and start working out bomb/ drop mechanics and retract placement. I may have glued the bottom panel on too soon.

Need to collect the electronics from other planes/quads to get all those details worked out too.

Starting to steal electronics from a 4 year old quad and a crashed Avios Seafury. I think I may use the magnetic bomb drop mechanics that where in the SF due to space limitations near the CG.

Got a big chunk of the curvy parts done. That may have been the longest part of the build. Each joint I counted to 30 before letting go and there are a lot of joints to glue.

I had to stop here as I need to tidy up some electronics before closing it all up. I need to add the retracts, which will take a bit of fiddling. I also need to power a BEC for the second Rx, which I need for the bomb drop so it can be operated by a copilot, as it gives an advantage in the bomb dropping contest of a few feet.

Worked a bit on the electronics.
Second controller setup for the bomb drops. Powered the second Rx from second ESC via a y-cable. The y cable has power to one Rx and signal to the other Rx. Set up the differential throttle on the rudder.

Awesome man, looks like this thing is really coming along great. Very clean build. We'll have to fly formation with these at FF. If things go well, there should be at least two more flapjacks there.
