I missed the wheel conversation a ways back and wanted to add this. Never did a build video or thread but these are the wheels I made using expanding foam. They are deliberately cartoonishly huge. I used a Quaker Oats style container - the big tube - with a pool noodle inserted down the center. Once fully expanded, I peeled off the oats tube and sliced the foamy tube into individual tires. The weird color comes from an experiment I tried that didn't pan out as well as hoped. But the resulting tire is pretty cool. Then I used bottle caps as the hubs. The Bushwacker surprisingly handled them really well. That prop was garbage though.

You couldn't have had a better backdop for a picture of that plane, and a double rainbow at that. Nice plane, I like your style

I have work for the next few days so I actually might have to sit this one out since the deadline is coming quick.
I’ll see if I can get it built as fast as possible (it’s probably doable in a few days) and I should be able to do all of the challenges on the same day as the maiden.

Almost got around to doing the payload challenge, but then a stick got thrown into my plans... or a tree.
Took to long to get out, so we chose that it wasn't worth trying the payload challenge.

This is my entry. Its a Simple Stinson L-1 Vigilant very much like the FT Simple Storch.

I got about 75%. Tried for more but it couldnt roll straight enough to get speed.

I edited it down to the better consecutive 20 and put on some music to make it less boring to watch.

I had crashed and thought it was totalled, but after some hot glue and a new prop it looked good so I thought Id shoot some paint on it. The next day I had a great opportunity to fly before a storm. There was a slight breeze from one way, then dead calm, then strong wind the opposite way in 15 minutes. I edited down to the highlights.

These are my planes that didnt make the cut. A Crack Turbo Beaver style 250g cub. It was practically uncontrollable. I suspect the camber was too much.
The amphibious Stol boat flies nice and slow but my retracting gear just wasnt strong enough as expected. I think the step is too round because it was hard to break off the water. Its also just heavy from the complication.
The super fun profile 3d dusty was badly beat up so I was going to retire it but I figured Id try the twin twirl concept on it for fun. Amazingly it flew ok but it was too hard to control and couldnt taxi in the gravel so it couldnt compete here. Landed short though.
